Birch Cottage located in Burra, South Australia, was built in 1846 and opened for Bed and Breakfast accommodation in 2000.  

This self-contained cottage features two bedrooms with one queen and two single beds, a dining room, sitting room with wood fire, fully equipped kitchen, bath, shower and laundry facilities and a pleasant, spacious garden.

There is off-street parking and back lane vehicle access to the property.

 

 
 

 

The sheltered outdoor eating area is suitable for meals, afternoon tea or just finding a quiet, comfortable spot to relax with a good book or a glass of wine.

A picnic set and outdoor rug is provided for your use, as is a Weber style BBQ.

 

 
 
   

In the sitting room, a slow combustion wood fire, comfortable sofa and lounge chairs provide a restful haven. 

Television and stereo are available for your enjoyment, as well as games, books and magazines.

A generous wood supply is provided and fireplaces are pre-set for your convenience in winter.

Birch Cottage has a reverse cycle air conditioner in the sitting room, to ensure that you keep cool in the summer months.

   
     

The main bedroom features a queen size bed and overhead fan for summer use.  

The second bedroom has two single beds and also has an overhead fan plus a skylight.  An additional single bed is available upon request or extra bedding can be provided if guests wish to use the sofa bed.

Each bed has a quality quilt, big fluffy pillows and an electric blanket.  There are also spare pillows and blankets for extra warmth and comfort for those especially chilly winter nights.

 
   

The dining room provides a comfortable, light area for meals, featuring an open fire place and outlook to the garden. 

Fresh fruit, biscuits and sweets are provided for guests on arrival.

   
   



 

The kitchen is fully equipped and well appointed, with newly laid slate floors. 

Ample breakfast provisions are left for guests including country style bacon, free range eggs, bread for toast, jam, marmalade, a selection of cereals, fresh orange juice, plunger coffee and a variety of teas.

A well stocked pantry may provide that little extra should you choose to prepare a full meal.

 
   

The bathroom has a shower and separate bath. Quality, freshly laundered towels and fluffy robes are provided, together with a range of toiletries, including shampoo, conditioner, bath foam and soap.  A hairdryer is also available.

In the laundry a washing machine, iron and ironing board are all available for guest use.
